East Sac County Soccer Squads Sweep Past AHSTW

The East Sac County Soccer teams swept past AHSTW, the girls winning 3-1 and the boys winning 3-0.

The girls game saw East Sac County play stout defense that limited the AHSTW looks. The Raiders would strike first when Davanee Boger set-up Kenna Meyer to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead with 26 minutes to go in the half. The Raiders would add to the lead when Sarah Bontrager set-up Cora Mahler who made it 2-0 with 13 minutes to go in the half. AHSTW would not go away so easily scoring one minute later and that sent the game to the half with the Raiders leading 2-1. The second half saw the Raiders stay dominant on the defensive side and only two shots on goal. The Raiders would add one more tally when Kenna Meyer collected her second goal of the half at 17 minutes to go in the half. The Raiders would go on to win 3-1. RAIDER STATS: As a team they had 23 shots, Kenna Meyer had 2 goals, Cora Mahler had one goal, Davanee Boger had one assist, Sarah Bontrager had one assist, and Danae Thayer had 2 saves.

The boys game saw the game deadlocked at 0 at the break. The Raiders would miss a PK late in the first half. The second half saw the Raiders lock down on defense and the offense dominated possesion. The Raider goal scorer saw Luke Wright score two goals (one assisted by Elias Aragon), and Isaiah Aragon scored a goal as well. Luke Wernimont pitched a shut-out and had five saves. East Sac County Boys Soccer Head Coach Sam Ellis said, “(The) defense and the whole team played solid soccer.”
