Trout Stocked at Gabrielson Park

Trout was recently stocked at Gabrielson Park’s Gustafson Lake near Sioux Rapids.

According to Buena Vista County Conservation Board Director Greg Johnson, the stocking took place right before Christmas, but the announcement wasn’t made at that time due to poor ice conditions. Most of the fish stocked at Gabrielson ranged from weighing three-quarters to a pound, but Johnson says there are quite a few that weighed over two pounds.

All Iowa Department of Natural Resources fishing regulations must be followed. Anglers will need a valid 2024 fishing license, and the trout fee to fish for or possess trout. Fishing licenses and trout fees can be purchased at any fishing license retailer or the Iowa DNR’s website. Children under 16 can fish for trout with a properly licensed adult, but they must limit their catch to one combined daily limit. The child can purchase a trout fee which will allow them to catch their limit. The daily limit is five trout per licensed angler with a possession limit of ten.
