Town Meeting Scheduled in Sioux Rapids Regarding Flooding; Water Conservation Requested

Sioux Rapids residents are being asked by Buena Vista County Emergency Management to use porta potties that have been placed throughout the community as much as possible instead of flushing toilets due to an overrun in the sewer system.

A donation center has been set up at the Sioux Rapids Fire Department. Hours will begin today (Mon) at 9am and close at 5pm. Goods that will be accepted include toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, rubber cleaning gloves, work gloves, large black contractor garbage bags, and basic first aid supplies. If you need to donate outside of those hours, contact Holly Miller at 712-363-3353.

A town meeting will be held at 7pm this Tuesday, June 25th at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. The meeting is designed for residents who have damages caused by flooding to obtain information and ask questions.

Cherokee County Emergency Management is requesting water conservation in the City of Cherokee due to overwhelming of the sanitary sewer system.
