An 80’s tribute band will headline RAGBRAI’s overnight stop in Storm Lake.
The Spazmatics, based in Chicago, will perform on the AWAYSIS Great Lawn near King’s Pointe Resort at 9pm on Sunday, July 23rd. The band has played at popular dance halls, universities, and for other organizations such as Anheuser-Busch, GM, and Motorola events. The headliner selection was made by RAGBRAI executives based on performance space, community size, interest, and more. RAGBRAI is covering the cost of the performance.
Plans are unfolding for opening bands and additional entertainment throughout the day on July 23rd. Storm Lake’s Entertainment and Special Events Co-Chairs Elissa Doebel and Amy Von Bank continue to seek a mix of local and area entertainment such as DJ’s, games, classical concerts, local bands, karaoke, or bicycle trick shows. Those interested in performing for RAGBRAI riders and locals are asked to email ragbraistormlake@gmail.com with their entertainment details.
Storm Lake is the first overnight stop of this year’s bicycle ride. RAGBRAI is celebrating 50 years since the inaugural 1973 event.
