Additional Citywide Cleanup Events Scheduled This Week in Storm Lake

The City of Storm Lake is extending its Citywide Cleanup event.

Mayor Mike Porsch says the cleanup event this past Saturday saw overwhelming demand, as there was approximately twice the number of vehicles that had been experienced for any of the City’s previous Cleanup events…

Additional drop-off hours for unwanted items have been set for today (Tues) and this Thursday, May 9th from 2 to 6pm each day. Items can be dropped off at the City street shop at 433 Vilas Road. The drop-off fee is five dollars per load. Most household items will be accepted. Items that WON’T be accepted include construction materials, yard waste, hazardous chemicals and paints, propane tanks, ceramic fixtures, and junk vehicles or parts. Those items can be disposed at the Buena Vista Recycling Center.

The service is limited to Storm Lake residential properties, and Porsch urges citizens to bring at least one other person with them to help unload their items…

All proceeds from the Storm Lake Citywide Cleanup events will be donated to Upper Des Moines Opportunity.
