The Storm Lake Police Department is announcing SLPD Partners in Blue, a voluntary registration program that provides them along with first responders with information to aid in assisting persons with Autism, Alzheimer's, or other disabilities. SLPD Partners in Blue is for individuals who may be unable to respond appropriately or identify themselves to law enforcement officers; children who wander as a symptom of Autism or other developmental disabilities; or non-verbal individuals unable to communicate effectively. The goal is to provide first responders with immediate access to information to assist in helping citizens with special needs. Storm Lake residents are encouraged to register loved ones who may benefit from this program with the Storm Lake Police Department by submitting an online form, which can be found on their Facebook page, or the City of Storm Lake webpage.
