Stabbing Leads To 2 Arrests

According to a press release, the Storm Lake Police Department was called to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at approximately 8 am Wednesday May 15th for a male subject with a suspicious knife wound. Police contacted a female and a minor child in a vehicle in the parking lot of the BVRMC ER. Police allege that in the early morning hours of May 15th at a residence in the 400 Block of Michigan Street, a male identified as Simon Smith, age 35, and a female identified as Dixie Neior, age 32, both of Storm Lake, were involved in an argument at the residence while three minor children were present. During the argument, police allege that Smith assaulted Neior, causing bodily injuries, and Smith then armed himself with a knife, cutting himself in the upper body. He then went to the BVRMC ER for treatment of his injuries.
As a result of the incident, Smith was charged with Domestic Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor; and 3 counts of Child Endangerment, Aggravated Misdemeanors. Neior was charged with 3 counts of Child Endangerment, Aggravated Misdemeanors.
Smith was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was held without bond. Neior was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where she was booked and held on a $2000 bond.
