BV Emergency Management Coordinator Talks Upcoming Severe Weather Awareness Week

Severe Weather Awareness Week in Iowa will happen next week from March 25th through the 29th.

Buena Vista County Emergency Management Coordinator Aimee Barritt says the week will focus on severe summer weather conditions that can have an impact during all seasons…

Barritt says the week is also meant to promote family preparedness…

A different topic will be highlighted each day during Severe Weather Awareness Week including Severe Thunderstorms on Monday, March 25th…and Weather Warnings the following day.

The topic on Wednesday, March 27th will be Tornadoes. The annual statewide tornado drill will take place that day beginning at 10am. All sirens in Buena Vista County will be activated at that time. If there is a threat of severe weather that day, the drill will be conducted at the same time on the following day.

The focus for Thursday, March 28th will be Family Preparedness…and the following day’s topic will be Flash Floods.
