–The East Sac County Raider Girls Soccer team fell on the road to the Harlan Cyclones 3-1, and the East Sac County Raider Boys Soccer team shocked the Fort Dodge Dodgers 6-5 for the overtime win
–The Girl’s game saw the Raiders have two early PK shots as Chloe Bieret would get tripped in the box on back-to-back plays. On the first PK shot Kenna Meyer’s shot bounced off the goalie who fumbled it, however, the Raiders were unable to put the rebound in. On the second PK attempt Meyer would score her 17th of the season by shooting to the corner to give the Raiders the 1-0 lead just 12:08 into the match. The teams would play score until the Cyclones struck with Hailey Good connecting to tie the match with 7:39 to go in the first half. The match would go to the break tied at 1.
The second half saw the Cyclones connect off a quick pass in, as Carly Torneten would hit the far post but get the friendly bounce to make it 2-1 Cyclones. The Cyclones would score once more in the match with 16:02 to go when Torneten scored her second to give the Cyclones the 3-1 lead. The Cyclones would go on to win 3-1. The loss ends a three-game winning streak for the Raiders who fall to 6-5, and the win ends a four-game skid for the Cyclones who improve to 7-7. UP NEXT: The East Sac County Girls play host to Greene County Friday night a game that will be broadcast on KKIA.
–The boy’s game saw Fort Dodge tally the first goal to go up 1-0. Later in the first half, Isaiah Aragon would tie the game with a PK goal to make it 1-1. The Dodgers would explode for the next four goals of the game to lead 5-1. The Raiders would find the back of the net one final time in the opening half when Luke Wright scored to make it 5-2 at the break.
The Raiders would lock down defensively in the second half and find some clutch scoring as well. The Raiders would cut the lead to 5-3 off an Asher Lawler goal that was assisted by Riley Aragon. Later in the half Isaiah Aragon would strike for his second goal of the match to get the Raiders back to within one at 5-4. The Raiders would incredibly find the equalizer of the match with five minutes to go when Sam Schmitt found the back of the net to knot the game at 5-5. That would send the game to overtime. The game went back and forth in overtime until the brother-to-brother combination found the golden goal, as Carson Schmitt found Sam Schmitt for the game-winner (Sam’s second goal of the match) as the Raiders won 6-5
After the four-goal comeback, the Raiders are now 4-3, and after the loss, the Dodgers fall to 1-8. This is the first time the Raider boys have defeated the Dodgers in the series’ history. Luke Wernimont was a wall in the second half with 8 saves in the game. UP NEXT: The Raider Boys will play host to Greene County next Friday night the game will be broadcast on KKIA
