Another Red Flag Warning Issued for the Area

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning today (Thur) for Buena Vista and surrounding counties from noon to 7pm.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. A Red Flag Warning was issued on Monday as well, and similar conditions are expected through the weekend.

The wind will be out of the south from 15 to 25 miles-per-hour, with gusts as high as 40. Relative humidity will fall as low as 18-percent. Any fires that develop will likely spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
