Two residents from Laurens were arrested by Sac County authorities this past weekend on drug charges following a traffic stop.
According to the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, the traffic stop was conducted shortly after 8:30pm Saturday just east of Sac City at the intersection of Highway 71 and 255th Street for an insufficient number of headlamps. A deputy detected an odor of marijuana within the vehicle. During a search, law enforcement located drug paraphernalia in the front passenger seat area.
The driver of the vehicle was 44-year-old Larame Leo Swenson of Laurens. During a field sobriety test, deputies allege that a baggy of marijuana fell out of Swenson’s pants. Swenson was arrested and charged with 3rd Subsequent Possession of Marijuana. The passenger, 35-year-old Misty Renea Pettit, also of Laurens, was also arrested and charged with 2nd Offense Possession of Marijuana.
Swenson and Pettit were booked into the Sac County Jail. The Sac City Police Department assisted with the traffic stop.
