The Storm Lake girls basketball team beat Spencer 46-34 Friday night at Spencer. Adeeya Yanga scored 14 points and Grace Kenkel was 4-for-4 from the field and 3-for-3 at the foul line and scored 11 points. The Tornadoes are now 12-6 and they finished 3-5 in the Lakes Conference.
The Spencer boys defeated Storm Lake 63-61. The Tornadoes trailed 53-37 late in the 3rd quarter. The Tigers went 0-for-4 at the free throw line in the final :30 seconds of the game giving Storm Lake a chance to tie or win the game at the buzzer but Tim Yanga’s half court shot with one second left was no good. Cam Boyd scored all 17 of his points in the 2nd half, Justin Guynn had 13, and Yanga finished with 12 points.
Storm Lake falls to 8-7 overall and they finish the conference schedule with a record of 3-5.
Storm Lake boys will host Sioux City-West Monday night and both Tornado teams play at Newell-Fonda Tuesday night.
