The Storm Lake Municipal Band is set to begin another season of free concerts next month at the Sunset Park Bandshell.
The first concert of the season will be on Sunday, June 2nd at 2pm, with the final show this season on July 7th. As in past years, the opening date will also feature a classic car show in the park. Owners of vintage vehicles are invited to bring their cars to show off. Registration is not required.
The Storm Lake Municipal Band consists of volunteer musicians of all ages. The band offers an eclectic mix of music from traditional marches and classical works to modern pop and soundtrack favorites. Tom Musel returns as the band director.
The municipal band will perform each Sunday during June, and into the first week of July at 2pm. The performance on June 9th will start at 3pm due to Kid’s Fest. In addition, the band always performs on the opening night of the Star Spangled Spectacular. This year on July 3rd, they will perform a show of patriotic music in coordination with the Spectacular’s Patriotic Ceremony. Music will start at 5:45pm that day as the band opens for The Pork Tornadoes.
More seating has been added at the bandshell. New members are welcome to join the Storm Lake Municipal Band, including high school and college age musicians. Rehearsals begin next Tuesday, May 28th.
