Storm Lake Softball Rolls to Season-Opening Win

The Storm Lake softball team started their season tonight (Mon) with a 14-1 victory in four innings over South Central Calhoun in Lytton.

The Tornadoes sent ten batters to the plate in a five-run 1st inning. Kennadie Miller and Cole Richardson drew bases loaded walks, Lillie Hoffman had a two-RBI single, and Abby Bodholdt drove in the final run of the inning with a single.

Storm Lake also scored five in the 3rd, as they sent ten to the plate in that inning as well. Mackenzie Harder walked with the bases full, Avery DeHaan had a three-RBI triple, and Taylor Ripke had a sacrifice fly RBI.

Storm Lake’s four-run 4th started with a run on a throwing error. Harder stole home, and Ripke knocked in the final two runs with a double. The Titans only run came in the 4th following an error.

DeHaan picked up the win in the circle with a three-hitter, seven strikeouts, and no walks. SCC pitchers issued 12 walks on the night.

South Central Calhoun hosts Glidden Ralston tomorrow (Tues). Storm Lake plays their home opener Friday against OA-BCIG. The game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM, and video streamed on our website.
