East Sac County and Pocahontas Area basketball teams split doubleheader

–The East Sac County Raiders and the Pocahontas Area Indians split a doubleheader in Pocahontas on Tuesday night with the Indian girls winning 46-23 and the Raider boys winning 64-51

–The Indian girls extended their win streak in the series to 11 by defeating the Raiders 46-23. The Indians paced the game opening up the game on an 11-3 run. The Raiders would go toe-to-toe with the Indians with an 18-12 to trail 29-15 at the half. The Indians would open the second half on a 10-2 run en route to the 46-23 victory. The Indians improved to 10-6, while the Raiders fell to 7-12. The Indians were led in scoring by Madison Vial with 16 points, and Natalie Point/Jenna Vonnahme both tallied 9 points. –The Raider boys would open up the game with a 19-9 lead after the first quarter. After both teams took timeouts in the second quarter the Indian boys would go on a 11-8 run to cut the lead to 27-20. The Raiders would have an answer in the final three minutes of the quarter with a 7-2 run to lead 34-22 at the half. The Indians would open the second half with a 9-3 run to cut the lead to 37-31. The Raiders would again have the answer and extend their lead to 14 after three. Once again the Indians would surge with a 15-6 run to cut the lead to 54-49. The Raiders would once again have the answer and would go on to win 64-51. The Raiders improved to 14-3, and the Indians fell to 2-13. Ryan Clair led the Raiders with 22 points, and Luke Wright added 18 points. The Indians were led by Ethan Behrens with 17 points and Lucas Kopriva had 12 points.

–Up next the Indian teams travel to Saint Edmond on Thursday (February 1st) and the Raiders travel to play Southeast Valley on Friday (February 2nd)
