An organization has been formed that has a vision of creating an animal shelter in Storm Lake.
The formation of the group started a month ago at a Storm Lake City Council animal control work session. Approximately 20 people got together after the work session, and the organization’s initial meeting was held on Monday of this week at Storm Lake United. President of the organization Sue Lyngaas said approximately 40 people were in attendance, and the group gave itself the name “Caring Paws Rescue.”…
The “Caring Paws Rescue” group will be meeting every month, and the meetings are open to the public. The next meeting is set for Monday, May 20th from 6 to 8pm at the Storm Lake Public Library…
Lyngaas says they don’t have a specific place in mind for a shelter, although some property may be available around Lake Animal Hospital…
Lyngaas says future meetings are also expected to be held at the library. Fundraisers are expected to start soon.
A website for “Caring Paws Rescue” is in the works. For more information on the group, contact Lyngaas at 304-646-6120, or sulyngaas@gmail.com.
