The Buena Vista County Community Foundation recently distributed $67,736 to eight nonprofit organizations.
The foundation, which is in its 20th year of dispersing funds in the county through the Endow Iowa program, has dispersed more than $1.2 million to Buena Vista County organizations, including not-for-profits, governmental agencies, and public schools, since it began awarding grants in 2005.
The Buena Vista County organizations that received funding this cycle include Upper Des Moines Opportunity in Storm Lake, Seasons Center for Behavioral Health in Storm Lake, Storm Lake Fire Department, Witter Gallery in Storm Lake, Buena Vista County Conservation in Peterson, Rembrandt Firefighters Association, Peterson CRU Shed Committee, and Sioux Rapids 2000 Inc.
The Buena Vista County Community Foundation—made up of 12 board representatives from the county’s communities and rural areas—is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, which provides grant-making guidance and administrative support.
