The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will conduct a series of prescribed burns at a number of locations this spring, including in O’Brien County.
The prescribed burn scheduled in O’Brien County will be in the Waterman Prairie Wildlife Complex north of Highway 10, five miles west of Peterson and four miles east of Sutherland.
All of the prescribed burns this spring will be held between March 1st and May 20th. According to DNR officials, prescribed burns improve wildlife habitat, control invasive plant species and help maintain native plants.
