A man has been charged with kidnapping a young child late last week in Laurens.
According to the Laurens Police Department, a four-year-old child was reported missing at approximately 10pm last Friday. The department learned that the child was taken from the yard of his home on Nelson Street in Laurens.
After talking with the child’s family and neighbors, officers determined that a man identified as Karson Soumwei took the child. The child was located at the public library park in Laurens. He was returned to his mother.
Soumwei was apprehended, and has been charged with 3rd Degree Kidnapping, which is a Class C felony.
