Gun Threat Results in Arrest of Storm Lake Man

A Storm Lake man was arrested this past weekend after he allegedly threatened an individual with a handgun.

The Storm Lake Police Department was called to the 700 block of Cayuga Street around 8:30 Sunday morning. A victim reportedly engaged in a dispute with a man over the transaction of merchandise. The victim said the man retrieved a handgun from a vehicle in the 700 block of Cayuga Street, pointed it at the victim, then fled the scene.

An arrest warrant was obtained for 31-year-old David Vang of Storm Lake. At approximately 12:40 Sunday afternoon, a search warrant was executed at 110 Hudson Street. Vang was located at the residence and taken into custody without incident. While at the residence, police located a large caliber handgun matching the description provided by the victim, as well as ammunition for the handgun.

Vang was charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a two-thousand dollar bond.

The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office.
