The Iowa State University Buena Vista & Cherokee County Extension and Outreach offices, Buena Vista County Soil & Water Conservation District, and Natural Resources Conservation Service will host a free meeting on Friday, February 20th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The location is Bob Donahoo’s farm, 175 460th Street, Peterson, Iowa. The meeting will last approximately 4 hours with a free meal provided by Buena Vista County Farm Bureau and the Buena Vista Soil & Water Conservation District. The Windbreak Meeting will be facilitated by Billy Beck, Assistant Professor and Extension Forestry Specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.
The discussion will focus on proper windbreak establishment, windbreak management, and restoration techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to speak 1-on-1 with NRCS staff and District Foresters, discussing objectives for their land, cost share potential, initiate the windbreak planning process, and schedule on-site visits. Speakers will be Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Iowa Department of Natural Resources District Foresters, Iowa State University Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinic, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers.
