The Storm Lake girls basketball team improved to 2-0 on the year with a 52-43 win over visiting Sioux City-North Tuesday at Tornado Fieldhouse.
The game was tied at 37-37 after the Stars scored the first basket of the 4th quarter. Storm Lake responded with an 11-0 run which was ignited by Cole Richardson’s third 3-pointer of the game. Richardson finished with a career high 11 points. Avery DeHaan and Grace Kenkel both scored 15.

The Storm Lake boys started their season with a 78-34 win over North and they started the game hot as they built a 30-7 lead after the first quarter. It was 53-15 at the half. North was 6-of-19 from the field in the first half and committed 18 turnovers.
Jaidyn Coon made 10-of-14 shots including 5-of-8 from the arc and scored a game high 28 points. Cam Boyd added 17, and Garbieno Weno chipped in with ten.

The Storm Lake teams are back in action Thursday when they host Emmetsburg starting at 6pm.
