Tornadoes Pick Up 20th Win–Head For The Playoffs

Cam Boyd scored 31 points leading four Tornadoes in double figures and Storm Lake beat Humboldt 75-40 Thursday night at Tornado Fieldhouse.

The Tornadoes led 31-21 at the half and then made all nine of their shots in the 3rd quarter scoring 26 points in the process to break the game wide open. Boyd, who had 14 points in the 3rd quarter, made 9-of-16 shots for the game including 3-for-4 from the arc and 10-of-12 at the foul line.

Storm Lake shot 58-percent for the game. Tim Yanga had 14 points, David William eleven, and Garbieno Weno scored all ten of his points in the 2nd half. Click below to hear from head coach Evan Franzmeier.

Humboldt was led by Cade Birdsell who made six 3-pointers and scored 20 points. The Wildcats, now 13-9 will play Algona Monday in their first tourney game. Storm Lake, now 20-2, will host Denison-Schleswig Monday at 7pm. The game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7 KAYL and it will be video streamed at stormlakeradio.com
