The Storm Lake girls basketball team lost to MOC-Floyd Valley 67-54 in the opening round of the class 4A regional tournament.
The Lady Dutch made 10-of-11 shots including five 3-pointers in a 27 point first quarter as they built a 13 point lead after the first eight minutes of the game.
The Tornadoes trailed by as many as 16 in the 3rd quarter and would get as close as 57-50 with 3:30 to go but the Lady Dutch led from wire to wire picking up their 15th win of the year. They were led by Ady Jeltema’s 20 points.
Storm Lake’s Avery DeHaan had an incredible game scoring 33 points making 11-of-23 shots including 7-of-17 from the arc. Regan DeHaan added nine points and Grace Kenkel scored eight.
The Tornadoes finish the year with a record of 10-11 and graduate four seniors, DeHaan, Kenkel, Cole Richardson, and Abby Bodholdt.
