Storm Lake Boys Soccer Concludes Season in the 3A State Tournament with loss to Dallas Center-Grimes

(Photo from Roberto Martinez)–The Storm Lake Tornado Boys Soccer team fell to #4 Dallas Center-Grimes 8-1 in the Class 3A Quarterfinal 2 seed vs 7 seed match-up

The game saw the Mustangs grab control early when Ben Jackson scored just four minutes into the game to give the Mustangs the early 1-0 lead. The Tornadoes would answer when Jose Oropeza put a shot on the net that the Mustang keeper misplayed to tie the game at 1. The high-scoring start would continue when Jackson would score twice over three minutes (31:28 and 28:21) to give the Mustangs the 3-1 lead. The Mustangs would lead 3-1 at the half. The Mustangs would open the second half scoring just 86 seconds to grab a 4-1 lead. The Mustangs would not look back en route to the 8-1 victory.

The win improves the Mustangs to 15-4 and advances them to the Class 3A Semi-Final Friday Afternoon vs #6 Cedar Rapids Washington. The loss ends the Tornadoes season at 7-8, which saw the Tornadoes back in the state tournament for the first time since 2019. The Tornadoes say goodbye to ten seniors.
