Storm Lake Basketball Teams Split With E-Hawks

Garbieno Weno scored a career high 17 points for the Storm Lake boys basketball team and the Tornadoes rolled over Emmetsburg 84-40 Thursday night at Tornado Fieldhouse.

Jaidyn Coon and Cam Boyd combined for 31 points in the 1st half and the Tornadoes built a 52-24 lead at the break. Coon finished with 22 points and Boyd ended up with 21 points. David William chipped in with eleven points.

The Tornadoes made 36-of-69 shots for 52-percent for the game but were only 3-for-20 from the arc. Storm Lake had only three turnovers in the game while improving to 2-0 on the year and will play again December 12th at Spirit Lake. In the girls game, Rachel Schany scored 30 points to lead Emmetsburg to a 50-35 win over the Tornadoes. Storm Lake trailed at the half 25-19. The Tornadoes were led in scoring by Avery DeHaan’s 13 points.
