Remsen Saint Mary’s basketball teams sweep past Storm Lake Saint Mary’s

The Remsen Saint Mary’s Hawk basketball teams swept past the Storm Lake Saint Mary’s Panthers; with #4 Remsen Saint Marys girls teams defeating the Storm Lake Saint Mary’s girls 75-13 and in the boys game the #9 Hawks beat the Panthers 78-8

The girls game saw the Hawks jump out to a 17-0 lead in the first five minutes of the first quarter and never look back. The Hawks would roll into the halftime break leading 48-10, en route to the 75-13 win. The #4 Hawks improve to 15-0, and the Panthers fall to 0-16. The Panthers were led in scoring by Neely Bacon with 9 points, Aubrey Crum with 3 points, and Abby Wunschel added one point. Halle Bunkers led Hawks with 12 points. Up next the Panthers play host Sioux Central on Tuesday night (1/30/24)

The boys game saw stellar defense by the #9 Hawks, as the Hawks would hold the Panthers scoreless en route to a 47-0 lead at the half. The Hawks in total would hold the Panthers scoreless for 20:11 (and lead 55-0), and would hold the Panthers without a field goal made in the first 21:46. The Hawks would roll to the 78-8 victory. The Hawks improved to 11-3, and the Panthers fell to 0-16. The Panthers were led in scoring by Jesus Melendez with 4 points. The Hawks were led in scoring by Collin Homan with 19 points.
