Rebels Season Ends With Semi-final Loss

Dike-New Hartford defeated Sioux Central 58-44 in a class 2A semi-final game Friday at the girls State Basketball Tournament. The Wolverines used a 50-32 edge in rebounding to help them reach the state title game for the 4th year in a row. They can become only the second team to ever 4-peat as champions (Ankeny won four straight titles from 2002-2005) when they play Panorama Saturday afternoon.

Sioux Central gave them all they could handle for most of the game as the Rebels only trailed 27-22 at the half but in the end it was 23 offensive rebounds for D-NH that was the difference. Payton Petersen scored a game 28 points and grabbed 19 rebounds and Jadyn Petersen had seven points and 16 rebounds to help D-NH pick up their 25th win of the year.

The Rebels were led in scoring by Preslie Peterson’s 14 points, Morgan Christean added 13, and Avery Wilson chipped in with a 12. Sioux Central concludes the year with a record of 23-2.
