Raptors knock out Falcons in the First Round of Districts

In Class 2A Substate 8 (District 15) first-round play the Ridge View Raptors defeated rival OABCIG Falcons 11-1 in five innings

The top of the first inning saw the Falcons get one baserunner on before Raptor starting pitcher Cael Myrtue coaxed a fly-out from Gabe Winterrowd to end the frame. The bottom of the frame saw the first two Raptors get aboard and would be driven in by Myrtue and Gavin Vohs both with RBI singles. That would give the Raptors the 2-0 lead after the first. The Falcons would cash in a lead-off walk in the top of the second when Damon Dausel hit a sacrifice fly that would drive in Kelton Ladwig, to cut the Raptor lead to 2-1. The bottom of the second inning would see the Raptors send all nine batters to the plate and score four runs. The inning was highlighted by RBIs from Blake Myrtue (1), Cael Myrtue (1), and Gavin Vohs (1). The Raptors would take a 6-1 lead into the third inning.

The Falcons would get a baserunner in the top of the third inning off of a Raptor error but would strand the runner. In the bottom of the frame, the Raptors would get right back to work. This time sending eight batters to the plate. The Raptors would tack on three more runs as two singles and a walk would load the bases. Kinnick Jensen would connect on an RBI single and once again Cael Myrtue would add to his RBI total by knocking in two on a single. The Raptors lead 9-1 after three innings.

Myrtue would again work around Falcon baserunners in the top of the fourth stranding runners at first and second base. Ridge View would add two runs in the bottom of the fourth with RBIs from Kinnick Jensen and Noah Struck and would go on to win 11-1 in five innings.
