The Newell-Fonda girls basketball team defeated AGWSR 73-27 Friday night in their regional semi-final and they did it in familiar fashion with great defense and a balanced scoring attack.
McKenna Sievers was 8-for-9 from the field and made all five of her shots from the three point line and scored a game high 22 points. Kierra Jungers had 13 and Isabel Bartek added eleven points.
The Mustangs forced 31 turnovers in the game including 21 in the first half as they built a 47-12 lead at halftime.
Newell-Fonda, now 21-2, will play Coon Rapids-Bayard (20-3) Wednesday, February 21st at Fort Dodge in a regional final. Game time is 7pm and the game will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA
