Storm Lake Hoops Teams Sweep Thursday Games

The Storm Lake girls basketball team closed out their regular season with a 73-31 win over visiting Ridge View Thursday afternoon at Tornado Fieldhouse. Avery DeHaan scored a game high 23 points and Adeeya Yanga added 17 and the Tornadoes move their record to 13-7.

Ridge View was led by Madison Stowater’s 16 points and they will take a 9-10 record to Mapleton Next Tuesday for their class 2A opening round tournament game against MVAOCOU. The Storm Lake boys played a flawless first half in their 67-43 win over South Central Calhoun. The Tornadoes had zero turnovers in the first half and shot 55-percent from the field and led 42-16 at the half. Jaidyn Coon scored 18 points, Charlie Dvergsten made six 3-pointers for his 18, Justin Guynn tallied 14, and Cam Boyd scored 13 points.

The Titans were led by Cole Higgins’ 14 points and the Titans close out the regular season with a 16-5 record. The Tornadoes are now 11-7 and will play again next Tuesday at Sioux City-East. Click below to hear from Carson Lullmann, Guynn, and coach Evan Franzmeier.
