The Storm Lake Girls Soccer team fell on the road to MOC-Floyd Valley 4-0, while the Storm Lake Boys team won 4-1 at home vs MOC-Floyd Valley
The girsl game saw the Tornadoes have a strong offensive push in the opening 35 seconds before MOC-Floyd Valley would find the back of the net just 91 seconds in to take a 1-0 lead. The goal was scored by Mia Calsbeek. The teams would scoreless for 19 minutes before the Dutch would tally two strikes in 1:33 to lead 3-0 with 18:05 to go in the half. The Dutch would tally one more late goal from Calsbeek with under eight minutes to go and would lead 4-0 at the break.
The second half saw another Storm Lake surge for the first 75 seconds of the half, but the Tornadoes would not find the back of the net. The Dutch would have a couple more looks at the net but would not connect. The Tornaodes would stop a PK off a handball at the 31 minute mark, and would go on to fall 4-0.
The loss drops the Tornadoes to 1-3, the Dutch improve to 3-3. Up next the Tornadoes return home to battle the Humboldt Wildcats, the Dutch hit the road to take on Sioux Center on Thursday.
Meanwhile back in Storm Lake the JV Boys team picked up a 3-1 win to improve to 2-0, and the Storm Lake Boys Varisty Club collected a 4-1 win to improve to 3-2. Tuesday night the 3A #11 Tornadoes are on the road taking on the 3A #3 Humboldt Wildcats a game that will be broadcast on KKIA with pregame around 4:45pm, and the match starts at 5:00pm!
