Ridge View Girls Hang Tough But Fall in Mapleton

Maple Valley Anthon Oto-Charter Oak Ute pulled away late in their 67-43 win over Ridge View in a class 2A girls basketball region quarterfinal on Tuesday.

The Raptors broke on top 5-0, led by as many as six, and were up 9-5 after the 1st quarter. MVAO-COU took their first lead at 10-9. There were two more lead changes and two ties during the 2nd quarter. The Rams took the lead for good by breaking a 20-20 tie with an 8-0 run. Ridge View cut it to 28-23 at the half.

MVAO-COU took a 15 point lead into the 4th quarter, and the Raptors only got within 11 from there.

Madison Stowater led Ridge View with 21 points, and Claire Wandrey followed with 11. Trista Ohlmeier led three Rams in double-figures with 26.

MVAO-COU’s 2nd win this year over their Western Valley conference rivals puts them at 17-4 and into Friday region semifinal round at 10th ranked Hinton.

Ridge View concludes at 9-11. They say goodbye to seniors including Stowater, Shae Dutler, and Faith Freese.
