Alta-Aurelia girls basketball bows out of Class 2A playoffs after 70-46 loss at Kingsley-Pierson

The Alta-Aurelia Warrior girls basketball team fell to the Kingsley-Pierson Panthers 70-46 in Class 2A Region 7 Quarterfinal play

The Panthers opened the game on a 5-0 run over the first three minutes. Hayden Burkland would go 1/2 from the free throw line to cut the lead to 5-1. The Panthers would again have a strong response to a 12-6 lead. The Warriors would close out the quarter on a 6-0 run, Nora Peterson had 5 of those points (two buckets plus an and-one). The Warriors would grab an early 16-15 lead in the second but that would be the last Warrior lead. The Panthers would outscore the Warriors 23-5 the rest of the quarter to lead 38-20 at the break en route to the 70-46 victory

The win improves the Panthers to 16-5 and they travel to play #8 Central Lyon on Friday night at 7:00 pm. The loss ends the Warriors season at 11-11. The Warriors say goodbye to four seniors: Lucy Gunkelman, Ella Nielsen, Jaci DeGroot, and Addison Fritz.

The Warriors were led in scoring by Nora Peterson with 19 points, Ella Nielsen added 7, and Addison Fritz had 6.
