Big 4th Quarter Propels Storm Lake Girls To Win

The Storm Lake girls basketball team began their 4A regional tournament with a victory at home defeating Sergeant Bluff-Luton 62-48.

Maddy Raveling’s 3-point play with 5 minutes to go ignited a 12-0 run and the Tornadoes outscored the Warriors 20-7 in the final stanza. Adeeya Yanga was unstappable in the paint as she made 9-of-11 shots and scored a game high 20 points and Grace Kenkel added 14. The Tornadoes were 16-for-27 at the foul line.

S-B-L was led by MaKenna Nelson’s 14 points. Nelson came into the game making only 3-of-24 shots from the arc but Wednesday night she buried 4-of-8. The Warriors conclude the year with a record of 3-18.

Storm Lake is now 14-7 and will play 3rd ranked Bishop Heelan (20-1) Saturday night at Sioux City at 7pm. The game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7 KAYL. Click below to hear from Storm Lake coach Nate Reichter after the win.
