A 14-0 4th quarter run lifted #4 Underwood to a 61-51 win over East Sac County in a 2A boys basketball district final Tuesday night in Stuart.
The game produced nine lead changes and six ties. East Sac led 12-7 after the 1st quarter, and led by as many as seven early in the 2nd. Underwood battled back to take a 25-22 lead at halftime.
The Raiders regained the lead on Ryan Clair’s second three-pointer of the year at 36-33 late in the 3rd quarter, but Underwood took a 37-36 advantage into the 4th. A three by Karter Ludwig to open the 4th quarter scoring put East Sac on top 39-37, but the Raiders didn’t score again for the next four minutes while Underwood scored 14 straight. A basket by Clair followed by an and-one, and then a three by Sam Julin with just over two minutes left made it a six-point game, but Underwood answered with a three of their own, and East Sac only got within seven the rest of the way.
The East Sac starters tallied all of their points led by Clair with 12, Julin 11, Caleb Eichorn with 10, and Ludwig and Luke Wright with 9 apiece. Julin and Wright each made three from downtown.
East Sac finishes at 18-5 while Underwood (23-0) will play in a substate final Saturday night.
