Heilman Runs Wild as Ridge View Rallies for Homecoming Win

Lucas Heilman’s 36 rushes for 242 yards and three touchdowns lifted Ridge View to a 22-13 homecoming victory in Holstein over Lawton Bronson.

Lawton Bronson took advantage of an interception deep in Ridge View territory, as a drive that started at the 12-yard-line ended on a 4th and 4 touchdown pass of six yards by Braden Heiss to Evan Smith to make it 7-0 with 3:44 to go in the 1st quarter.

The Raptors put together a 17 play drive that consumed 7:26, but it ended with an interception. Lawton Bronson was forced to punt though, and Ridge View put together a seven-play, 75 yard touchdown drive in 2:17. Heilman ran 49 yards to the Eagles one-yard line. Two plays later, Heilman scored from a yard out, but the point-after was missed, and Lawton Bronson took a 7-6 lead into halftime.

Lawton Bronson held their one point lead into the 4th quarter as neither team scored on their first two drives of the 2nd half. On 4th and 6, Heilman’s 26 yard touchdown run, and ensuing two-point pass from Raif Jensen to Blake Myrtue put the Raptors on top 14-7 with 11:22 remaining.

Kinnick Jensen intercepted a pass on the third play of Lawton Bronson’s next drive. Four plays later, Heilman scored on a 51 yard run, which was followed by a successful two-point conversion to pad the Raptors lead to 22-7 with 8:40 left. The Eagles scored on a 15 yard touchdown pass with 5:10 remaining, but the extra point was blocked to keep it a two-score game. Following a Ridge View three-and-out, Lawton Bronson drove to the Raptors 12, but turned the ball over on downs with under a minute left.

Heilman’s rushing accounted for all but 45 of Ridge View’s 287 total yards on the night. Lawton Bronson had 206 yards. Lawton Bronson won the turnover battle three to one, but they fall to 1-5 overall, and 0-3 in 1A district 1. Ridge View goes to 3-3 overall, and 1-2 in the district. The Raptors play at West Sioux next Friday.
