Brechwald Sets New Alta Aurelia Baseball Strikeouts Record

Cale Brechwald broke the Alta Aurelia career strikeouts record in the Warriors 13-0 five-inning win tonight (Wed) over Sioux Central.

Brechwald’s 10th strikeout of the night to the last batter of the game was the 268th of his career, breaking the previous mark of 267 held by Alex Snyder. Brechwald tossed a one-hitter. He and coach Ryan Burkhart talked afterward…

The Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning which included a two-run homerun by Gavin Sleezer. Alta Aurelia scored three in the 2nd, and sent 11 batters to the plate in a six-run 4th. Brechwald had three hits and an RBI, Sam Sennert had two hits and an RBI, and Camden Reinert and Gabe Olsen each drove in two.

Alta Aurelia had 11 hits. The Rebels only hit was a one-out single by Max Wittmaack in the 4th.

Alta Aurelia ups their record to 9-5, 5-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Warriors play Friday at Manson Northwest Webster.

Sioux Central (8-5, 4-2) plays tomorrow (Thur) at South O’Brien.
