Hot Shooting Leads North Linn To 1A Title

North Linn made 10-of-11 shots in the 2nd quarter and built a 17 point lead after two quarters and the Lynx defeated Newell-Fonda in the class 1A state championship game 67-51 Saturday night in Des Moines.

Kamryn Kurt scored a game high 23 points and Macy Boge added 17 and the Lynx shot 64-percent for the game making 27-of 42 shots including 5-of-14 from the arc.

After trailing 40-23 at the half the Mustangs cut their deficit to eleven points at 45-34 midway through the 3rd quarter but would get no closer. It’s the second straight year, and sixth overall, that the Mustangs finish runner up.

Kierra Jungers scored 17 points, Kinzee Hinders had 16, and McKenna Sievers added 15. Sievers and Jungers were named to the 1A all-tournament team.

North Linn finished the year 26-1. Newell-Fonda ended their year with a record of 24-3 with four seniors, Sievers, Jungers, Greta Larsen, and Isabel Bartek playing their final game in a Mustang uniform.
