BVU Athletics Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2023

The Buena Vista University Athletics department is pleased to announce that four new individuals and one team will join its BVU Athletics Hall of Fame as the Class of 2023.

Jason Evers ’96, Ben Lickteig ’05, Jennifer (Stork) List ’07, and Shawn Olorundami ’09 join the 1983 BVU Softball Team as the newest members to be formally enshrined into the BVU Athletics Hall of Fame during a private banquet held on campus on Friday, Oct. 13.

Evers, who was a 6’8” center, was a four-year standout on the court for the men’s basketball team from 1992-1996. A three-time All-Conference performer for the Beavers, Evers still ranks third on the program’s career scoring list with 1,678 points. He is also on the top-10 list in rebounding with 716. The Clarks, Neb., native was named a preseason DIII All-American by DIII News in 1995. As a senior, Evers averaged a career-high 21.6 points per game and also hauled in 8.8 rebounds per game in 25 games.

Lickteig was a four-year member for the Beaver baseball team from 2002-2005 and started all 157 games in which he appeared. Lickteig was a two-time All-Conference selection and remains ranked in the top-5 of most offensive categories in program history. The Algona, Iowa, native led the Beavers as a senior with a .377 batting average and a .658 slugging percentage. He posted 55 total hits that season, including 10 doubles and nine home runs, while driving in 52 runs. He finished his career with 193 hits, a school-record at that time.

Jennifer (Stork) List had a storied golf career for BVU and capped it off by claiming an Iowa Conference individual title as a senior in 2006, complementing her IIAC Most Valuable Player accolades. Her conference title came after she earned runner-up honors as a junior and a fourth-place finish in her sophomore season. List, a native of Carroll, Iowa, went on to become a two-time All-American (2006 and 2007), a three-time Academic All-Conference selection and a two-time NGCA Scholar All-American.

Olorundami was a track and field athlete for the Beavers from 2006-2009. He went on to become a six-time Indoor All-Conference performer and an eight-time Outdoor All-Conference finisher. As a senior, Olorundami became both an Indoor and Outdoor All-American. The Sioux City, Iowa, native remains the school record holder in the indoor 55-meter hurdles, 60-meter hurdles and the 4×200-meter relay, along with the outdoor 110-meter hurdles, 110-meter shuttle hurdle relay, 4×100-meter relay and the 4×200-meter relay.

The 1983 Beaver softball team became one of the most successful teams ever during its historic season. Its national runner-up finish was at the time BVU’s highest-ever national team finish and helped pave the way for the school’s only national team title a year later. The Beavers finished their 1983 campaign with an overall record of 30-9, while picking up an Iowa Conference title with an 11-1 mark and the Io-Kota Conference title at 8-2. The team landed eight All-Conference selections, including Lori Stirn ’83, who was named the IIAC Most Valuable Player and a Second Team All-American. Head Coach Marge Willadsen was named the Conference Coach of the Year.

This illustrious Hall of Fame class will be recognized publicly during a halftime ceremony of the BVU vs. Luther College football game on Saturday, Oct. 14, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
