The Storm Lake Public Library will host a special Author Talk Tuesday evening featuring Michelle Sprout Murray, writer of Amazing Iowa: Great Tales and Curiosities from the Hawkeye State.
The free event begins at 5 p.m., with a book signing to follow.
Murray’s debut book, released earlier this year, highlights Iowa’s lesser-known stories—from astronauts and suffragists to haunted places and hometown legends. She describes the collection as “miracles, legends, and the ordinary made extraordinary.”
Murray is no stranger to Storm Lake. She worked at Buena Vista University in the 1990s and has spent decades in higher education, journalism, and the arts. She now co-owns an ice cream parlor in Mason City.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library volunteer group.
