Storm Lake Foundation Awards 21 Teacher Grants for 2026–27

The Storm Lake Community School District Foundation is awarding 21 classroom educator incentive grants for the 2026–27 school year, providing a total of $18,000 in support for local teachers.

Foundation President Matt Phillips and board member Mike Porsch announced the grants during end‑of‑year events across district buildings on Wednesday.

The Foundation says the grants are designed to fund classroom projects that cannot be covered by existing district budgets. The goal is to help teachers advance school improvement priorities, develop creative programming and support student achievement. Leaders describe the grants as “seed money” that can help move important projects forward.

The funded projects span every level of the district — from preschool sensory and literacy tools, to flexible seating and bilingual learning supports in the elementary grades, to wellness, science, math and agriculture initiatives at the middle and high school levels. District libraries and several student‑support programs also received funding.

The Foundation says the grants reflect a continued public‑private partnership to help support educators and strengthen student outcomes. This is the 12th year of the classroom grant program, which has now provided more than $120,000 in funding to Storm Lake teachers.
