Newell Fonda Softball Winning Streak Reaches 17

The Newell Fonda softball team pushed their winning streak to 17 games this (Tues) evening in Galva, as the 4th-ranked in 1A Mustangs defeated #11 in 2A Ridge View 12-2 in five innings.

The Mustangs pounded out nine runs in the 1st inning, as the first nine batters reached base. Newell Fonda scored three more in the 3rd.

Newell Fonda racked up 12 hits. The Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game, Mary Walker, went 4-4 with three RBI’s. Anna Mercer had a two-RBI single as part of the big 1st inning. Macy Sievers pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts.

The Raptors scored both of their runs in the 2nd inning, as Tatum Shepherd and Beth Mentzer each had an RBI double.

Newell Fonda is now 19-2 on the season. The Mustangs play at GT-RA on Thursday.

Ridge View (10-4) plays tomorrow (Wed) at home against Lawton Bronson.
