A Shenandoah man has entered a formal written plea of not guilty in the Aug. 2 shooting death of a Manning woman in Lake View.
Twenty‑seven‑year‑old Joshua Lehman submitted the plea yesterday (Monday, Aug. 31) in Sac County District Court. He also waived his right to a speedy trial.
Lehman is charged with first‑degree murder in the death of 27‑year‑old Dr. Rylie‑Shea Muhlbauer. Investigators say a 911 call came in just before 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 2, reporting a shooting at a home on East Shore Drive. Responding officers found Muhlbauer deceased inside the residence. Court documents allege she was shot in the head while lying in bed.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation identified Lehman as the suspect later that day, and he was arrested without incident. He is being held in the Sac County Jail without bond.
First‑degree murder is Iowa’s most serious criminal charge and carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
