The Buena Vista County Medical Examiner’s department outlined leadership changes to the Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors at its regularly scheduled weekly meeting Tuesday morning at the county courthouse in Storm Lake.
Starting August 1, Dave Patton will take over as Medical Examiner Investigator Manager, succeeding longtime manager Tim Speers, who will remain on the team as a Medical Examiner Investigator.
Speers reflected on his decades of service for Buena Vista County.
Speers commended the board for being “fair and reasonable” during his tenure with the Medical Examiner’s department.
Patton is expected to fully transition into the role next spring once he retires from his current position as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Additionally, the board gave full approval to appoint paramedic Nicole “Nikki” Mason to the Medical Examiner’s department to fill the Medical Examiner Investigator vacancy left by Doug Simons, whose years of service were honored by the board of supervisors.
A motion to recognize Simons’ contribution passed unanimously, 4-0. Board member Kelly Snyder was absent.
