Auburn Woman Dies from Collision with Semi

An Auburn woman has died as a result of an SUV vs semi collision.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened around 5:50 this (Thur) morning on Highway 71, just north of 150th Street between Carroll and Auburn. 26-year-old Lorraine Wuebker of Auburn was driving an SUV south on Highway 71, while a semi driven by 64-year-old Edward Peterson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota was northbound on the highway. Wuebker crossed the center line and struck the semi head-on. Wuebker’s vehicle came to rest in the west ditch, while the semi went into the east ditch.

Wuebker was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt. The State Patrol report says weather and road conditions may have been a contributing factor to the crash, which is still under investigation.
