Alta-Aurelia–Storm Lake Basketball Recap

The Storm Lake basketball teams hosted Alta-Aurelia Thursday night in front of a big crowd at Tornado Fieldhouse.

The Tornadoes won the girls game 72-49 thanks in large part to a 3rd quarter that saw the home teamoutscorethe Warriors 28-9. Avery DeHaan led three Tornadoes in double figures with a game high 20,Maddy Raveling added 13 and Amy Slight had ten. Alta-Aurelia was led by Brielle Engelmann’s 16 points and Ella Nielsen chipped in withten. The result leaves both teams 7-4 overall.

The Storm Lake boys picked up their second win of the season as they beat the Warriors 64-53. The Tornadoes led at the half 29-28 and then outscored the visitors 17-8 in the 3rd quarter and Alta-Aurelia would never get any closerthan eight points after that. Jake Eddie scored a season high 17 points to lead Storm Lake in scoring, Justin Guynn had 14 and Cam Boyd added 11.Carson Reinert and Braden Sonksenscored 13 points each to lead the Warriors.

Alta-Aurelia falls to 7-3 while the Tornadoes move to 2-6 on the year. The Warrior teams will host South Central Calhoun Friday night and the Tornadoes go on the road to play at Spencer.
