Falcons Football Season Ends With Semi-Final Loss

Zach Lutmer accounted for four touchdowns and 367 total yards leading Central Lyon-George Little Rock to a 37-14 win over OA-BCIG in a class 2A semi-final game played Saturday afternoon at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.

Lutmer scored three rushing touchdowns in the 2nd half on runs of 6, 66, and 23 yards. He also threw a 19 yard TD pass to Josh Elbert in the 2nd quarter.

The Lions built a 17-0 first half lead as they possessedthe ball for 18:46 of the first half out-gaining the Falcons 276-33 in the first two quarters.

OA-BCIG got on the board late in the 3rd quarter when Lennon Wells recovered a fumble in the endzone. After a two point conversion the Falcons trailed 23-8 with 1:10 to play in the 3rd. Their last TD came with 2:27 to go in the game when Beckett DeJean tossed an eight yard TD pass to Griffin Diersen.

For the game the Lions had 472 yards of total offense to the Falcons 171. DeJean was 10-for-27 through the air for 108 yards and was intercepted twice. He led the rushing attack with 31 yards on seven carries.

Diersen led the team in tackles with 12 and also had a forced fumble and Josh Peters had an interception.

CLGLR ran the ball 65 times for 374 yards with Lutmer leading the way gaining 269 yards on 28 carries. The Lions held the ball for 34 minutes of the game.

OA-BCIG concludes the year 10-2 while the Lions improve to 12-0 and they will now play Williamsburg for the 2A State Championship next Friday at 10am.
