A total of 62,856 meals were packed on Thursday at the Storm Lake St. Mary’s food packing event.
Several donors and packing crews contributed to the effort and worked alongside St. Mary’s families, parish members, and students. The food will help those in need in third-world countries. According to information provided by St. Mary’s, 3.5 million kids under the age of five die from malnutrition every year.
This was the 13th year that St. Mary’s has conducted a food packing event. The school partners with the “Then Feed Just One” organization out of LeMars for the project. 897,264 meals have been packed in all of the years St. Mary’s has held the event.
