Work is getting underway this week on a water main and service line replacement project in the City of Alta.
Over six thousand feet of water mains and over four thousand feet of water service lines will be replaced. The effort will utilize both trenched and trenchless construction, associated fittings, fire hydrants, valves, and assorted pavement and sidewalk patching.
Most water service lines are planned for replacement up to the property line, but the Alta community has a few existing water services that are lead or galvanized pipe that will need to be replaced all the way to the water meter of each designated home. A project representative will contact owners of affected residences with additional information.
The contractor, GM Contracting of Lake Crystal, Minnesota will have multiple crews throughout Alta. Traffic disruptions are expected to be minimal. ISG representatives will be on-site throughout construction. The project is being funded by USDA Rural Development Funds.

North Cherokee Street from NW 1st Street to North 2nd Street.
Industrial Road from Lake Street to midway down the block.
Buena Vista Street from East 7th Street to East 2nd Street.
West 9th Street.
West 8th Street from West Highway to Peterson Street.
Division Street from West 8th Street to West 7th Street.
Peterson Street from West 8th Street to West 7th Street.
